NME MAGAZINE COVER ANALYSIS

This type of music magazine is going to be more like my magazine due to the style of lay out that I will be using and because of the music genres and audience.
The name of this magazine is large and brightly coloured so that it is easily recognised. The magazine title is not extremely big though because they can fit more information on to the front cover, which gives the reader more about what is in the magazine. This will make them want to buy the issue. This magazine also has a lot more small headlines and captions which gives the reader inside information on that week’s issue. The biggest area of font and text on this cover is the band title, which is very large and is in white which makes it stand out more. This shows that this issue is relying on the story about ‘The Killers’ to sell the magazine. This could work very well if the reader is mad about the killers, but some people may be put off by this. When I do my magazine, I will make sure that I have more than one band on the front cover so that more members of the public will buy it. The front cover also has a small area saying about the band ‘The View’ at v festival and how there gig went. Once again fans of ‘The View’ will be persuaded to buy this issue due to this interview. There is also another area on the ’reading festival’, which informs the reader that there is a 15 page guide to the world’s greatest rock festival. Adding information on festivals and up and coming festivals is a great idea to bring in the customers. NME have also added a rhetorical question to the cover, which reads, 'Can Brandon find the plot in time for the reading and leads festival'. this makes you want to read this article to find out what it is all about!
