Questionnaire evaluation

We produced a questionnaire about the college magazine to find out how many people would read the magazine and how much they would pay for it. We also included questions about what they would like to see in the magazine. We printed off 20 questionnaires and went around the college looking for participants to fill it in.

First of all we found out that 95% of students do not read the magazine, which means that it does not interest them or meet there demands. To overcome this problem we would need to add exciting articles to attract the readers. The next question asked them,’ what would they like to see in the college magazine’. Our answers varied between; jobs, entertainment, news, events, sports, etc. Next we decided to find out a price range for our magazine, so we put a question on the questionnaire asking, ‘how much would you pay for the college magazine’. 70% said 50p and 30% said a pound or more, although people are willing to pay for the magazine, it may be a good idea to make the first copy free so that more people would get one and might be influenced to buy the next one. When asked the question, ‘what would encourage you to read the college magazine’, the majority of people answered; games consoles, jokes, funny stories, embarrassing photographs of teachers etc.

Next we discovered that people would also like to see fashion, puzzles, gossip and articles on celebrities in the magazine. We could also include a few pages on the football premier league and the latest transfers and team gossip to encourage the football fans to read the magazine. Most questionnaires that we got back said that they would like to have an area in the magazine which gave information on their subjects so they could keep up to date with homework. We have also discovered from this questionnaire that people would be willing to subscribe depending on the price and how interesting the magazine is. This means that we would have to keep the price low and make sure that we are up to date with the latest information in all topic areas. Answers varied between once a week to once a month when asked,’ how often would you like a magazine produced’. From looking at these results I have decided that it would be best to bring one out every two weeks to keep on top of latest news as well as keeping people interested. Our last question that we asked was,’ would you like to see a what’s on page,’ majority of people answered yes, meaning that a what’s on page is needed.
