full magazine analysis

Front Page…

Nice large title stating the magazines name (NME). Just like every NME magazine the title is Big and red with the usual white outline. This front cover only has one photograph, which is a photograph of arctic monkeys. This is because arctic monkeys have the biggest article in this magazine, resulting in fans of this band buying the magazine. There are a couple of captions to go with the photograph which states what the article is about in one sentence. These magazines do not want to give too much away as they want to sell the magazine. A lot of the front page is taken up by the band name. This is to catch the fans attention so that they sell it. As always there is a small area at the bottom of the page which tells you about other small and exciting articles that there are to read in this issue.

Contents page…

The contents page for this issue of NME takes up two pages for extra information. Although this is not the case as the writing is large which takes up a lot of room. Numbered articles show the order of the articles in the magazine which makes it easier to find those articles which really mean something to you. Each part of information has a nice large space so that the pages are not all jumbled up. Nice large photographs of the bands. Everyone loves photographs more than they do writing as it is much easier and quicker. Only three colours used. Black, red, and white, this keeps the contents simple. Too many colours make the page too much to handle.

Next page in from the contents pages is an article on the lead singer of the strokes. This article is about the singer fulfilling a life time ambition by bringing out a Christmas song this Christmas. To go with with this article is a photograph of the singer which takes up the entire page.

The following two pages are just a couple of pages with a few artist and information. Nice large photographs and easy to read heading give these pages a lot for the reader to do. This page just explains what has happened to a few bands in the last week. Not particularly the most exciting of pages in this issue.

Double page spread.

This double page spread is in the NME magazine and is a double page spread about the, emerge NME radar tour. This article is about the radar tour and the bands that will be playing such as, the joy formidable, chapel club and the flats and wilder. The article states that the bands will be playing at the water front in Norwich. There is a small article on this topic which tells you about the night and the bands.
There are a lot of photographs of the bands on this double spread. There is a very large photograph which must be the main band that played and there are also around 5 smaller photographs of the other bands. They have added a couple of photographs of the bands before they were on stage just doing their thing, for example, drinking beer and jamming.
To go with these photographs they have a tiny area of writing which explains what every photograph is about or what is going on in each photograph.
This fits NME magazine as it is directed at bands that you would expect to see in NME. It is also run by NME as you can see in the title (emerge NME radar tour).

Microsoft's motion gaming peripheral is, if executed correctly, quite possibly the future of gaming. This wonderful new gaming experience brings out the real gamer in you, by grabbing you and actually putting you inside the game. This is no ordinary piece of gaming experience, as you become the controller. The kinect works by sensing certain areas of the human structure which allows you to move around your room and the person you are playing as will respond to your every movement, making a realistic experience. This wonderful piece of software also has a microphone which gives the kinect voice recognition. This allows you to turn the kinect on or off, play movies or games, move through the menus and much more. This makes the Xbox menu a lot faster and easier to use.The kinect also has a very small camera installed to the front. This small camera takes pictures of you whilst you are playing games, which shows how silly you really look. This makes this experience a lot more fun and enjoyable.
Can you think of a better way to spend your evening than staying in on the kinect with a few friends? Or would you rather stay in with your Nan and watch eastenders? No I dint think so. Although the kinect is a bunch of fun, it is incredibly hard to play when you have the fitness of a duck. So when buying buying the kinect you may want to re think to yourself, ‘can I be bothered to move’. If the answer is no, then don’t waste your money. On the other hand, if you are an energetic person, there is no better way to use that energy up than playing the kinect. You could go for a run but that is incredibly boring and let’s be honest you’re not going to.
Another benefit of the kinect is that everybody knows that Facebook runs people’s lives. So, if you are able to deprive yourself from Facebook than the kinect will use up that spare time and fill it with everlasting fun.
I have my own kinect and 5 minutes of playing time drains my energy but like I said, it is a bunch of fun and there is no better way to spend your time than playing on the kinect.
